Basic Skills Seminar at Purdue University
The Basic Skills Workshop was founded in 2012 as a part of Purdue University's Association for Women in Mathematics by Lidia Mrad to provide workshops to Purdue graduate students providing skills outside the traditional academic setting. We cover topics such as navigating graduate school, teaching, career planning, using technology for professional purposes, etc. Students can register for the Basic Skills Workshop as a one-credit-hour seminar course during the fall and spring semesters.
I co-organized this seminar in the last two years of my PhD program at Purdue University.
Purdue Graduate Student Analysis Seminar
The graduate student analysis seminar was founded in 2022 and its mission was to provide a comfortable, safe, and enriching space where graduate students can talk about analysis and other related topics in mathematics. The seminar provides participants with a space for open discussion and greater insight into topics that can inspire a further understanding of mathematics.
I co-organized this seminar in the last two years of my PhD program at Purdue University.
Louis Stokes Minority Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Mentoring
As part of the AGEP program, they provided the opportunity and privilege of working with students in the LSAMP program. In this role, I became a mentor to undergraduate students who were interested in research. As a mentor, I would help my students with professional development, dissemination of research articles, and academic guidance with their classes. I worked with many LSAMP students since Fall 2021.
Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM) Mentoring
The AWM chapter at Purdue University has a mentoring program for incoming mathematics graduate students. I have mentored two PhD math students supporting them through their transition to the PhD program in any way I can. In this role, I can share my own experience as a brown mathematician with Purdue University.
